Customers have chance to get Gigabit broadband Internet access, super HDTM TV and home phone service powered by 100 times faster fiber-optic network infrastructure
Flora, Miss. (May 12, 2015) – Flora, a small Mississippi town best known as the gateway to Mississippi’s 36 million-year-old petrified forest, may soon be famous for another reason - availability of some of the fastest Internet access in the world.
Flora already receives cable TV and Internet service from C Spire, but the company is upgrading its fiber optic connections – opening up the opportunity for the town’s 1,886 residents to keep a modified version of their existing service or choose from a suite of next-generation services, including 100 times faster Internet, Super HDTM TV and home phone.
“With the transition to this new infrastructure platform, we’re excited to offer Flora residents the option of updating to our Gigabit Internet and related services,” said Suzy Hays, senior vice president for Consumer Markets at C Spire.
Hays said residents will need to make a final decision next month on which service package they want as Internet, TV and phone service on the old system will be discontinued starting July 1. “We want every family and individual to make an informed and timely choice that best meets their needs.”
Current customers can keep a modified version of their existing service or upgrade to the new service and residents who use another Internet or cable service provider can switch to C Spire by calling toll free 877.835.3725.
Flora Mayor Les Childress said residents, businesses and community leaders are excited about the prospect of ultra-fast Internet and related services being available as a broadband service option in the Madison County town.
“Our town has a history of being at the center of commerce and development dating back to our beginnings as a railroad hub for the cotton industry,” Childress said. “We believe advanced technology choices can help improve the overall quality of life here.”
